Experience and education
He co-founded Mechero Energy, whose most significant achievement was the development of Termo Mechero Morro, an approximately 60 MW gas-fired plant connected to Colombia’s electricity system. He led development in Colombia, from land, studies and permits with partners through investment coordination, financial close and commissioning. The project structure included firm gas supply and a seven-year PPA.
As Business Development Manager and Latin American business development lead at other companies, he led distributed generation and cogeneration opportunities for the paper, ceramics and cement industries under EPC, BOMT and PPA models. Through DIATOMS, he has participated in commercial closings of solar projects totalling 30 MW in Colombia and commercial and strategic coordination of a 15-year wind PPA.
He holds an Electronic Engineering degree from Universidad de los Llanos, Colombia; a Master’s in Project Evaluation and Development from Universidad del Rosario, Colombia; a University Master’s in Energy Facilities Management and Project Internationalisation from Universidad CEU Cardenal Herrera–ITE, Spain; and a Master’s in Battery Technologies from Universitat de València–ITE, Spain.
His core strength is identifying solutions where others see obstacles and turning them into viable projects by aligning technology, demand, capital and execution capabilities.
